What is Oy!?

Bringing YOGA to YOU!

Oy! stands for Occupational Yoga.

Throughout our workday we are stuck in repetitive movements, stressful situations, and unergonomic positions.  Oy! was established to help every working professional and profession reconnect with their body and destress their mind.  Life is busy and work is hard, YOGA shouldn't be! This is why we come to YOU at your workplace.

Meet the Team!
Alyssa Rios

Hi! My name is Alyssa Rios and I have been working within the dental field and fitness industry for many years. I wear many hats as a dental assistant, patient care coordinator, marketing guru, fitness instructor, mother to three children, and yoga teacher.

I started my yoga journey almost a year ago when I started to notice a disconnect between my body and mind. I was so busy with work and children that I never bothered to stop and notice the physical pains my body was enduring, or the daily mental stress of juggling all the things in life. Yoga has taught me to slow down, reconnect, and take care of myself.

At work we are so focused on our patients that we sometimes forget the physical postures we endure all day. I started noticing new aches and pains, as well as mental blocks after leaving the office. My coworkers were complaining of aching backs, necks, wrists, and hips from repetitive movements throughout their day.

I met Alex at our yoga teacher training, where we both realized we had similar visions of bringing yoga to the dental field. Together we have created a series of yoga poses to address the needs of dental professionals.

Yoga has decreased my stress, improved my focus, and balanced my life. I am so grateful to have Alex as my partner in this venture and look forward to helping dental professionals ease stress, relieve aches and pains, and take some time for themselves.

Meet the Team:
Alex Andrews

Hi! I’m Alex Andrews and I’ve been providing service, equipment, and supplies within the local dental community for nearly ten years and I’m on the road for the majority of the day. All the driving plus the typical stress of trying to balance work and being a husband and father left with me a tight lower back that got worse and worse over time.
When my back got so bad I was in constant discomfort my wife suggested I call her cousin who is a massage therapist. Her cousin relieved my immediate discomfort but recommended I take up a yoga practice for long term prevention and health. I began practicing at The Awakening Realm in Elkhart and started my journey that led to becoming a yoga teacher.
During Yoga Teacher Training I met Alyssa Rios who is also in the dental field, and both seeing the benefit of yoga in dental, partnered up to create a series of asanas (yoga poses) designed to specifically address the needs of Dentists, Assistants, Hygienists, and office staff.
Yoga has healed my back, decreased my stress, and improved my overall sense of wellbeing, and I consider it a great honor to be able to together with Alyssa, offer the benefit of yoga to the dental community I work in, Namaste!
